FAQ
SP Series CNC Gantry Machining Center — FAQ
It is a gantry machine in which the double-column gantry and spindle remain fixed while the worktable moves the workpiece along the X-axis. The fixed gantry gives the spindle a short, rigid load path, which favors finishing accuracy on large dies, molds, and plates.
In a table-moving machine (SP Series), the worktable travels and the gantry is fixed — best for wide dies and molds where rigidity and accuracy matter most. In a column-moving machine (HPG Series), the columns travel along a long bed — best for extra-long or extra-heavy workpieces that exceed table load limits.
Per VDI 3441, positioning accuracy is 0.01 mm per 1,000 mm of travel (0.015/2000, 0.02/3000, 0.03/5000 mm at longer travels) and repeatability is 0.005 mm per 1,000 mm. Accuracy is achieved through hand-scraped joint surfaces, C3 pre-stretched ball screws, and laser interferometer verification.
Standard models take worktables from 1,800 × 1,200 mm to 3,600 mm wide, with maximum table loads from 4,000 kg to 20,000 kg and X-axis travel from 1,600 mm to 24,000 mm. X travel can be extended and Z travel heightened on request.
Yes — with the optional automatic angle head (1° and 5° indexing), the machine performs 5-face machining, and switching between the 3-axis spindle and the angle head takes about 10 seconds automatically.
Start from three numbers: your largest part’s X dimension (sets travel), its weight (sets table load), and your tightest tolerance (sets accuracy and options such as optical scales and on-line measurement). Then confirm spindle type — belt, direct-drive, or gearbox — from your cutting forces. The sales manager can map your parts to a model after reviewing drawings.
